Who are we?

What we do

CUSS is an undergraduate student society organized and run by and for Communications Students. We provide opportunities for members by integrating fundraising initiatives, a mentorship program, social nights, and professional activities throughout the year.

We are operated by a team of executive members that are elected into their positions making up as: President, Vice-President, VP Administration, VP Finance, VP Special Events, Gala Director, Mentorship Director, Social Media Director(s) and Graphic Design Director.

We pride ourselves on diversity and acceptability amongst Communications students at Carleton. We urge everyone to become involved and either sign up for our social events or run to be on the executive team or as a year representative. Becoming a member of CUSS allows you to add a CCR credit onto your transcript at Carleton. You can become a member for as little as 5$ today.

Plus, we can an incredible Mentorship program that matches up upper year students with first year students to assist them with the transition into University, course help and everything and more a mentor is to you. We create pairings every year, so there’s always a chance to sign up!

We also allow blog submissions regarding any sort of school or communications/media related topics. More information about our blog can be found here.

We can’t wait to see you around at our social events and don’t hesitate to contact us for any questions, comments or concerns.

FAQ

How can I sign up for a CUSS membership?

CUSS allows students to sign up for a CUSS membership until the end of each academic year (Winter Semester). Students can sign up with their Year Reps in class or at events on campus! Students are encouraged to follow CUSS’ social media channels to get the latest information about sign up opportunities.

I want to be a part of the mentorship program but the deadline has passed.

Although the deadline to be a mentee/mentor has passed, we do our best to accommodate students. If there is a mentee looking for a mentor, we will do our best to match them with a mentor, if one becomes available. If you are interested, please send us an email at carletoncuss@gmail.com.

The event that I wanted to go to is sold out!

Within the last year, the amount of CUSS memberships have grown exponentially. We try to accommodate as many students as possible and work with the organization to accept as many students as possible. Unless it is stated otherwise, we are unable to duplicate events. However, we encourage students to contact us if they wish to attend a sold out event and we will do our best to accommodate them.

I would like to share content on your page. How do I begin?

We encourage organizations and businesses to send us an e-mail (carletoncuss@gmail.com) with details and links about the content they would like shared. If we can’t share on our social media platforms, we can ensure it will be posted on our website.

Students respond well to volunteer, job, or any other opportunities they benefit from. Please keep it related to Communications and student life. We will not advertise any personal businesses, political views, and/or non-communications related content. Please give time for the content to be uploaded as we get a lot of requests.
